The municipality of Groß-Enzersdorf, supported by the cycle path funding of the state of Lower Austria, has built a walking and cycle path project along the state road B 3 to the state border in Vienna/Lower Austria, as well as a walking and cycle path connection between Blanchardgasse and Withestrasse. President of the Landtag Karl Wilfing and member of the state parliament Dieter Dorner recently together with DI Dr. Michael Platzer from the Lower Austria Straßendienst and representatives of the municipality of Groß-Enzersdorf officially hand over the completed walking and cycle path projects.
The existing path north of the state road B 3 between the roundabout of the B 3 with the L 11 and the state border in Vienna/Lower Austria did not correspond to the quality requirements for a corresponding cycling infrastructure due to the investment conditions (width of around 1.3 meters). In addition, the use of this path by pedestrians occurred again and again. Due to the 220 meter long gap in the walking and bike path, there is now an optimal connection from Groß-Enzersdorf to Vienna to the bus stops of the Viennese lines. A green strip up to 1.2 meters wide serves as a safety distance from the state road B 3. When it comes to construction, care was taken to ensure that the existing trees can be preserved.
Furthermore, the existing narrow path between Blanchardgasse and Wietthestrasse was expanded into a mixed walking and bike path over a length of around 300 meters. With a corresponding construction structure, the two systems were carried out in a paved width of three meters. The work carried out the work, Porr, the funding was carried out by the Lower Austrian road service. The total costs of the two projects amount to around 220,000 euros, with 70 percent of the state and 30 percent being borne by the municipality of Groß-Enzersdorf.
