From the 2025/26 winter season, the popular “ski swing” between Hauser Kaibling and Planai will be lifted to a new level of quality with two state-of-the-art lanes. At Hauser Kaibling, a 10-seater gondola track will replace the previous “station railway”, while on the Planai the new 8-seater chairlift “Mitterhausalm I” replaces the old Sonneckbahn. The construction work begins – subject to a positive building notice and the declaration of consent of all landowners – in spring 2025 and should be completed in good time for the start of the season 2025/26.
Hauser Kaibling: “Sender Railway” becomes a gondola lift
In the future, the new 10-way gondola “Hauser Hauser Kaibling Sender Railway Hauser Kaibling” will ensure a significantly faster connection from Planai to Hauser Kaibling. In less than five minutes, winter athletes with the new railway take place directly to the station plateau-and are therefore only a lift ride from the highest point of the Schladminger 4-Berge ski swing. With a promotion output of 2,400 people per hour and a speed of 6 m/s, the Leitner 10 gondola lift offers efficient and comfortable connection.
“The decision to replace the previous 4-seater railway with a gondola railway was made due to the topography and the travel time shortened by two minutes. Due to its aerodynamic cabin shape, it is less susceptible to wind and offers significantly increased driving comfort. The skiing in the gondola enables comfortable and rapid climbing and leaving the cabin, which in particular brings a great relief for families “
So Klaus Hofstätter, Managing Director Hauser Kaibling.
Planai: New 8-seater chairlift “Mitterhausalm I” replaces 4-er armchair track “Sonneck”
The new 8-seater chairlift “Mitterhausalm I” from the Doppelmayr brand replaces the previous 4-seater chairlift “Sonneck” and ensures a faster and more comfortable connection from Hauser Kaibling to the Planai. With a promotion of 3,000 people per hour and a travel time of only three minutes, waiting times are a thing of the past. Seat heating, cover hoods and comfortable padding ensure maximum seating comfort even on cold days.
“With the two new lanes ‘Mitterhausalm I’ and ‘Senderbahn’, the ski swing between Planai and Hauser Kaibling is enormously upgraded in both directions. These improvements are the result of our joint efforts to offer winter sports enthusiasts a comfortable and modern skiing experience “
according to Dir. Georg Bliem, Managing Director Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen.
The state of Styria as the main shareholder of the Planai University Railways and Hauser Kaibling, especially governor Mario Kunasek, is pleased with the further tourist development that will set new standards in the Schladming-Dachstein region. “A ski area that is already popular far beyond the borders becomes even more attractive by the construction of the two lanes. From the upcoming skiing season, our guests will come faster and more comfortably from the Planai to Hauser Kaibling and vice versa. With this project, the Schladminger 4-Berge ski swing is strengthened as a winter tourist magnet “
says Governor Mario Kunasek.
