Turkish Cultural Community in Austria (TKG): “Happy Easter and relaxing holidays”.

Vienna (OTS) The Turkish Cultural Community in Austria (TKG) wishes our Christian friends, acquaintances, neighbors and everyone else who does not celebrate this Christian festival a happy Easter. Happy Easter!

Easter and general knowledge about Muslims, Islam and Turks. Do Muslims and Turks celebrate Easter? Just very briefly: How are Jesus and Mary mentioned in the Koran?

Chairman of the Turkish Cultural Community in Austria (TKG) Birol Kilic warns with the words:“Many Muslims are atheists, deists, agnostics, similar to Christians and Jews. This is about general knowledge.and mentions the following:

“Just as Christians do not fast during Ramadan or do not celebrate at the end of Ramadan, Muslims do not celebrate Easter, but know the Easter of their Christian neighbors in their homeland, for example in Istanbul, as “yumurta bayramı” (egg festival). Easter is called “paskalya” in Turkish. In the Turkish language, Christians and Muslims wish their Christian neighbors who celebrate Easter “Hayırlı Paskalya!” instead of “Happy Easter”. Although Jesus is mentioned in the Koran in several verses, with Mother Mary even in a separate surah (capital) among the total of 114 Koranic suras (capitol) Surah Meryem (Sura Maria, 98 verses), he is very valued and respected with great love, Muslims do not celebrate Easter. In 93 verses of the Koran, Jesus is referred to a total of 180 times as “son of Mary,” “a spirit of Allah,” or “the Word of Allah.” The Koran emphasizes the fatherless creation of Jesus by analogy with the prophet Adam.

In Surah Ali Imran (3) in verses 33 and 34, Mary is described as follows: “Mary is one of the central figures of the Koran. In addition to her personality, which is portrayed as the epitome of chastity, loyalty and devotion, important events in her life occupy a large space in the Koran. The most interesting event in her life is the fatherless conception of Jesus. When describing this event, three points in particular stand out: the sending of the Spirit to Mary, the blowing of the Spirit and the appearance of the Spirit in human form.
