Mavi, the leading Turkish jeans brand, set new standards in sustainability last year. It became the first Turkish clothing brand to be awarded a Double “A” score on the Carbon Disclosure Project’s A-list, recognizing its achievements in climate and water protection and placing it in the top 2% of the 21,000 participating companies worldwide.
Progress in 2023
Mavi is committed to creating positive impacts across the entire value chain through sustainable practices and innovative solutions. A significant milestone last year was the increase in the share of the sustainable All Blue collection in sales from 14% to 25%. Mavi was able to reduce 87% of Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions per added value (compared to 2019), demonstrating their continued commitment to environmental protection. In addition, Mavi has significantly increased the proportion of renewable energy in its operations and relies on effective water resource management as well as controlled chemical use and waste management. These measures contribute significantly to reducing the ecological footprint and have been impressively confirmed by receiving the double “A” score in the CDP list.
Goals for the future
Mavi has set ambitious goals to further reduce its environmental footprint. By 2030, the company plans to obtain 100% of the cotton used from sustainable sources. Mavi also aims to become a climate-positive company by 2050.
All Blue Collection
The All Blue collection is at the heart of Mavi’s sustainability initiatives. The products in this collection are made from certified organic, recycled and Better Cotton licensed materials. These environmentally friendly fibers, combined with technologies such as E-Flow, laser technology and automated dosing systems, help reduce water and energy consumption as well as chemical use. This collection illustrates Mavi’s commitment to achieving a positive environmental balance through sustainable materials and technologies.
Uniqueness of a Turkish jeans brand
Mavi is characterized by its proactive approach, being one of the first Turkish jeans brands to set concrete sustainability goals and to review and adjust them annually. This ongoing reporting and recalibration is a clear sign of Mavi’s commitment to making real and measurable progress towards sustainability.
