Triple award for the ORF at the television award for adult education: Andreas Gruber received for his “Österreich-Bild:
Where Heaven and Earth Meet” won the prize in the “Documentation” category. In the “Program Formats/Series” category, Patrice Fuchs and Ernst Pohn were honored for “Between Lie and Truth”. The presentation of the 56th Adult Education Television Awards for 2023 took place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna.
“Anyone who stops learning, anyone who is no longer willing to change, refuses to live.” This is how the credo of Puchberg Castle’s advanced and adult education can be summarized. Film director Andreas Gruber created an “Austria picture” for ORF Upper Austria for the 70th anniversary of the educational center, where events and workshops reach many people in their current needs and realities of life. Using historical events and impressive cases, the new ORF III documentary “Between Lie and Truth” analyzes the basic mechanisms of opinion manipulation and shows that disinformation is a long-standing phenomenon.
“In his ‘Austria Picture: Where Heaven and Earth Meet’, Andreas Gruber portrays a remarkable institution for further and adult education. With their documentary ‘Between Lie and Truth’, Patrice Fuchs and Ernst Pohn take a look at historical examples of disinformation in Austria. Both productions are characterized by high social relevance. I congratulate all award winners on these prestigious awards. They are a sign of quality and added value, but also the diversity of the ORF’s public service products,” emphasizes ORF General Director Mag. Roland Weißmann.
The television award for adult education is awarded by the Conference of Adult Education in Austria (KEBÖ): Working Group for Educational Centers Austria, Vocational Development Institute Austria, Library Association of Austria, Forum for Catholic Adult Education in Austria, Rural Training Institute Austria, Ring of Austrian Educational Works, Economic Society Austria, Association of Austrian Trade Union Education, Association Austrian adult education centers and economic development institute of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
