Close to swimming training

Aua! That was a kick! The third one I got today, this time the foot hit my upper arm. I prusted out loudly into the chlorine water when exhaling, then I crawl past the wide breast swimmer: Oh man, who could have guessed that the Stadtbad Tiergarten is so overcrowded on a Tuesday evening?
There are more than a dozen swimmers on the 50-meter railway, it is a constant overtaking and overhauling, bad for me, because today I want to find out whether I am at least triathlon ready for swimming: at what time do I create the 1500 meters? Do I save a little lead in the water before I am collected 43 kilometers on my bike and walking over a painful 10 kilometers from the competition?
Trial training

ND editor Jirka Grahl tries something new, at the start of triathlon. 1500 m swimming, 43 km bike, 10 km run. On September 14th. is a competition premiere: at Fehmarn triathlon.
I have recently plagued such bad premonitions from running. Quite different from a few weeks ago, when I was sitting with my friend Steffen while beer, after a swimming round. We felt strong. After the second Augustinian, we were in a great mood and we were very sure that we wanted to try out what we had spun on Felix, the third in the group, a few times: we’re doing it, we start at the triathlon! The royal discipline of endurance sports, she is waiting for us! Nothing easier than that! Three Ironmännchen in puberty.
In no time in no time we had renamed our WhatsApp group to “Team Triathlon”, made the first research on the web (training plans, we need training plans!) And of course decided on the Olympic distance. Ifschon, Dennschon! Steffen found one Websiteon which all competitions are listed. We were looking for ourselves Fehmarn Out of September 14th is still enough time, and somehow Fehmarn seemed tempting. Late summer, Baltic Sea edge, sunshine. Only a little later did the first concerns come to me: triathlon on the Baltic Sea? Salt water, waves, wind! What if it rains? What if it thunders? And in general, I’m 53, Steffen is ten years younger, Felix even 39! The guy has run the marathon under three hours, and Steffen is a tough, wiry Mecklenburger. I have no wetsuit and no idea, instead three kilos too much on my hips. What am I doing here?
On the other hand, I certainly know: This triathlon mission is the best way out of the comfort zone. Others also find that: In the meantime, our WhatsApp group has grown to nine men, everyone is registered for the Fehmarn triathlon, we share beginners tips and results. It hails hearts and thumb-high-emojis! And I came up with the idea of telling you every two weeks about my advances, equipment gadgets and nutritional plans, sports psychology and training control-and whether all of this in common athletes like me or not.
By the way, 31:43 minutes was on the clock in the city pool on Tuesday after 1500 meters. Nobody from our group was so quick. So what! Stay tuned!
