Artificial intelligence now supports the processes of roof companies in a variety of ways. The digital consulting, solution and software house has which applications are particularly important for companies and what role here plays industry affiliation valantic examined in cooperation with the Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI). It shows: Especially in quality control as well as automated data and document management, AI applications are already very popular with companies. The supply chain optimization with AI is also an important field of application for many.
Valantic and the HRI have around 700 decision-makers: Inside from companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the added value they already achieve with the use of AI applications within their business processes (Applied AI). Two out of three companies already report measurable benefits based on AI applications- for example in the form of efficiency profits, material and cost reductions or increases in sales and profitability. In addition, the study investigated the relevance of these different applications.
Which applications are particularly important?
As part of the survey, Valantic had differentiated 14 use-case clusters from each other and asked the participants which of these areas of application are most important for their own company. The respondents made the highest relevance to the following five clusters:
- Quality control: identify defects and ensure product quality using visual or other sensory inspections.
- Document and data management: Information from documents and data records in large quantities, automated and high quality extract, process and manage.
- Optimization of the supply chain: z. B. precisely demand forecast, optimization of delivery routes, reduction of inventory, optimized manufacturing and logistics planning.
- Robotics & Smart Products: Automation of product functions; Interaction of sensors, control and logic for independent functioning and optimizing hardware products.
- Automation in customer service: Chatbots and virtual assistants to process customer inquiries and to provide support.
AI-based creation of media content even with less relevance
While the top 5 of the AI applications are named by around a third of the respondents as the most important thing for their own company, the C-Level decision-makers: so far, are still a comparatively low importance of classic use cases of the generative AI inside. The generation of creative content (picture, text, sound or video) was only one of the most important areas of application for AI applications in your own company for almost every fifth (19 percent).
Another result of the study: which areas of application for AI applications are assigned to the highest relevance varies depending on the industry affiliation. For example, companies from industrial sectors such as automotive, beverage and food production or production in general measure quality control through AI, while in the area of healthcare and pharmaceuticals most decision-makers: inside, the document and data management calls important use case. The most mentioned use case in the trade and consumer goods industry is the optimization of the supply chain. On the other hand, supplies and sale are extremely important for suppliers, so that many respondents call the price optimization as an important application.
Laurenz Kirchner, Managing Director and Data & Ai Practice Lead at Valantic, says: “Our study shows that KI is no longer a future vision, but is used in many companies. For many companies, the focus is on the question of which areas of application in their own company. Strategically anchor Ki initiatives.
Information about study design
The study results are based on a quantitative and qualitative survey, which was carried out under around 700 decision-makers: inside from the DACH region. In the focus, the respondents are C-level decision-makers: inside that work in companies with more than 500 employees. Particular attention was paid to the automotive, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, beverage and food production, trade and consumer goods, production, telecommunications, transport and logistics as well as utilities.
