The return travel through the end of the holiday in North Rhine-Westphalia and parts of the Netherlands as well as travel to the south caused long delays on the transit routes on Saturday. According to ARBÖ Salzburg, Tyrol and several border sections, there were particularly affected.
Most of the patience was asked at lunchtime on the Fernpasstrieb (B179). Between the border tunnel Vils/Füssen and Reutte-Süd, drivers had to plan around 45 minutes. Around 15 minutes of delay were reported in the opposite direction. In front of the border tunnel, the traffic was only handled in both directions from 12.30 p.m. in both directions.
It also dammed up on the Brenner Autobahn (A13): Between the Europabrücke and Innsbruck, the journey time extended by up to 20 minutes. On the Inn Valley Autobahn (A12) there were another 10 minutes between Völs and the Knot Innsbruck/Berg Isel.
On the Tauern Autobahn (A10), drivers between Salzburg and throw were about 20 minutes longer. Further south, the traffic between Paternion and Villach-Osiacher See was only handled in front of the Kroislerwand tunnel, which caused around 15 minutes of delay.
“A lot of patience was also required at some limits,” explains ARBÖ transport expert Thomas Haider. When entering Austria, there was a loss of time in Slovenia in front of the Karawanken tunnel on the A2. In front of the Nickelsdorf/Hegyeshalom border on the Hungarian M1 Hungarian Autobahn, travelers had to wait up to 20 minutes from the morning. On the German A3, border controls of the federal police and the return travel between the border Suben and the Rottal-Ost parking lot also ensured about 20 minutes of additional travel to the north.
