The ORF broadcast reaches 270,000 people in South Tyrol

Vienna (OTS) The news magazine “South Tyrol Today” continues to enjoy great popularity in South Tyrol. In a representative survey*), 74 percent of the German-speaking population stated that they use the program, i.e. follow it on television or in the ORF TVthek. The format is also popular with the younger target group, with “South Tyrol Today” reaching almost 60 percent of those surveyed between the ages of 18 and 29.

The program received top marks: almost eight out of ten respondents who watch “South Tyrol Today” like the program very much or well (average value 1.8 on a five-point school grading scale). In addition to the topics, design and quality of the reporting, the competent and friendly moderation is valued. Almost 90 percent of the German-speaking population in South Tyrol think it’s good that the ORF is making a special program for South Tyrol.

State Director Esther Mitterstieler: “I am very pleased about the loyalty of our audience. 270,000 viewers can rely on us to continue reporting on the issues that concern them and to remain very close to the audience.”

“South Tyrol Today” can be seen from Monday to Friday at 6:30 p.m. on ORF 2 Tirol. In South Tyrol the show will be repeated on ORF 1 at 7.30 p.m. The online offering was recently further expanded via the ORF TVthek and social media. On May 2, 2000, the first edition of “South Tyrol Today” went on air on ORF 2. The cross-border news magazine is broadcast in Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino. The content is designed by our own editorial team in Bolzano, and since 2021 the moderation has also been carried out by a local studio.

The ORF’s involvement in South Tyrol goes back to the 1970s. In addition to distribution by the Südtirol RAS broadcasting company, there was an ORF office in Bolzano and, after success with TV news programs in Austria, the launch of “South Tyrol today”.
