Synopsis: Maria, in her early 40s, commutes. A few weeks in her Romanian homeland are followed by a long phase in Austria, where she lives as a 24-hour carer for a senior citizen who she looks after. With empathetic objectivity, Maria Lisa Pichler and Lukas Schöffel portray the nurse in a state of constant conflict: between the desire to enable her family to make a living and the sacrifice she has to make to achieve this. It quickly becomes clear: Anyone who fills a gap in one place creates a new one elsewhere.
