Together for a safe childhood

Salzburg (OTS) –

With two major specialist conferences in spring and summer, the Salzburg Aid Agency has successfully completed the introduction of its comprehensive child and youth protection concept in all educational areas. Around 180 employees from toddler care, kindergarten, school childcare, day care work and open youth work dealt intensively with topics related to prevention, power relationships, mindfulness and coping with crisis.

Non -violent development room

The specialist conferences, which took place in the Knowledge Park Urstein, formed the highlight of the childcare year 2024/25 of the Salzburg Aid Service. Since August 2024, the protection concept specially developed by the pedagogy department has been anchored in all facilities of the Salzburg Aid Agency. The aim is to offer children and adolescents a safe, non -violent development room.

The first event was aimed at employees of the elementary educational institutions and day parents. The focus was on the responsible handling of educational power, which was intensively illuminated in Maria Kulač’s impulse lecture. In workshops, topics such as mindfulness in the team (speaker Angelika Sibitz), violence prevention (speaker Isabella driver), crisis support (speaker Birgit Versnik) and parents’ work (speaker Ria Wienerroither) were deepened.

Power, media use, children’s rights

This was followed by the specialist day for school childcare and open youth work. Here, digital media use, children’s rights and child -friendly handling of power were in the foreground. Renowned speakers such as Janina Schönleben (Kija Salzburg), Birgit Proksch (Saferternet trainer), Ria Wienerroither (de-escalation trainer) and Birgit Versnik (coach and mental trainer) shared her specialist knowledge.

“The examination of children’s rights, protection factors and the reflection of your own pedagogical attitude not only strengthens the quality of our work – it is an expression of our responsibility towards young people,” emphasized the moderators Petra Rittsteiger and Fabian Kronewitter from the University of Education.

With the successful implementation of the child and youth protection concept, the Salzburg relief organization sets a clear sign: for trust, for protection and for strong cooperation.
