Karl Nehammer stands for a strong, constructive Austria in the European Union
Wels (OTS) – “Chancellor Nehammer is sending important signals for Europe. He has shown once again that he stands for a strong, constructive Austria in the European Union. He also presented a clear plan for this today,” says Angelika Winzig, ÖVP delegation leader in the European Parliament, at today’s presentation of Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s Austria plan.
“We also need a strong voice in the European Union to show what is not working and what needs to be improved. Austria has already made a significant contribution to the first steps being taken towards a common European asylum and migration system. Together we will continue to work for a safe Austria in a Europe with appropriate rules and external border protection. “This must remain a priority on the European agenda,” emphasizes Winzig.
“Especially in geopolitically tense times, our Chancellor is clearly committed to Europe and our European values. These must also be reflected in our foreign and economic relations. It must therefore also be ‘Europe first’ for our internal market. But the companies in our market must also be able to really do business in order to maintain our prosperity. I therefore completely agree with the Chancellor that we must stop the European regulatory madness. We need incentives and not further bans or avalanches of bureaucracy,” explains Winzig, emphasizing that the Chancellor’s announcement that Austria must become number 1 for research and innovation in Europe is an important impetus for a future-fit economy.
