This is how the Houses of Life celebrate the day of care and support

The Houses of Life are using the International World Day of Care and Support to say thank you and to set the course for the future

Vienna (OTS) On May 12th, the International World Day of Care and Support, not only the management of the 30 houses for living and the 150 pensioners’ clubs for the city of Vienna would like to thank all 5,000 employees for their outstanding performance throughout the year. A large number of employee campaigns this week demonstrate the working atmosphere based on mutual respect and the good corporate culture of the Fund Kuratorium Vienna Pensioners’ Residences – houses to live in for this systemically important professional group. Residents, relatives and members of the clubs also use this opportunity to express their appreciation for the dedicated work. Many touching handwritten cards and letters as well as drawings and even a video bear witness to this. Because: “My mother, who has been living in the houses for two years, is really well looked after here,” says Brigitte Jäger, the daughter of a resident.

Employee development and strategy are essential

“Almost 8,500 people live in our 30 retirement homes who can rely on our highly professional and tailor-made care and support services. Our top priority is to guarantee them the best possible quality of life and self-determination. This wouldn’t be possible without our employees. We are therefore actively committed to offering optimal working conditions that meet the needs of our nursing and support staff. In addition to the deserved appreciation, there must also be a focus on reducing workloads. Here we create the appropriate conditions, such as flexible working time models, the use of the latest technology, opportunities for training and further education and many other benefits,” say Christian Hennefeind, managing director of Hauss zum Leben, and Simon Bluma, deputy managing director of Hauss zum Leben. For this reason, Haus zum Leben recently presented its new strategy, which, among other things, will create around 450 additional care places by 2030. The fact that the houses for living were able to fill almost all positions in these shortage occupations and continue to develop qualitatively despite the expansion of the nursing stations this year shows the correctness of the path they have chosen. “Our colleagues provide care and support 365 days a year and today they are deservedly the focus of public attention – we are proud of everyone! Because they make a significant contribution to the quality of life of seniors in the city of Vienna,” agree Karin Eder, head of the nursing department, and Eveline Pohl-Iser, head of the care department, about living in the houses.

With 30 retirement homes in 21 districts of Vienna, Haus zum Leben is the largest provider of senior care in Austria. The houses for living offer the most care and residential places in the country. In addition, thousands of older people throughout Vienna visit the 150 pensioners’ clubs for the city of Vienna every day, which are also run by the Haus zum Leben.
