The way out of unemployment is often rocky

Unemployment can meet everyone. The return to the job market is often associated with setbacks and financial losses. This is shown by data from the working atmosphere of the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor. It should therefore not be surprising that employees who have already had experience with unemployment are much more dissatisfied than those with continuous employment.

Employees who find a job again after a phase of unemployment are much more dissatisfied than their colleagues: inside, who were continuously in an employment relationship. This is the pessimistic assessment of your own income situation. The unemployed often has no choice but to assume an activity that is under their qualification and/or is paid less. This is evidenced by surveys to the Austrian working atmosphere. After a phase of unemployment, many lack the chance to find an equivalent area again. One speaks here of the “scarring” effect, which describes the long-term consequences that leaves unemployment in the course of employment. Financial pressure means that you have to accept poorly paid jobs. This effect is particularly evident in the case of longer unemployment.
Almost 30 percent of the employees whose professional life has already been interrupted by unemployment do not believe that they will make up for their pension later.

Young employees, people with a migration background and people with a maximum compulsory school leaving certificate are most often affected. But you also benefit most from active labor market policy and often find new jobs with the help of the labor market service (AMS).
