Vienna (OTS) – The 300,000th visitor to enter the building since it opened at the beginning of December is Jan Przewozniak. He came this afternoon, on the last day of April, with his daughters Hanna and Helena, 11 and 12 years old. After just under five months, twice as many people have visited the new museum as in a whole year before the renovation.
„When I was asked before the opening how many visitors I would like to see in the new museum, I answered with a prediction that was a bit daring for me at the time: 300,000. An average of 2,454 people came per day on the 129 days it was open, with Saturday and Sunday being the busiest days. Around 5,800 people took part in the 213 public tours offered so far, around 9,000 people booked a total of 300 private tours, and the school workshops, which were fully booked until the end of the year, have so far been attended by around 4,000 students.
“The concept of free entry to the permanent exhibition works wonderfully. With regard to social accessibility, but also in terms of indirect profitability: Due to the many visitors, we generate good income from the catering and the shop as well as from renting out our attractive event rooms. The Przewozniak family comes from Warsaw. She lived in Vienna for four years and has since returned to her former adopted home two or three times a year. They still know the Vienna Museum from before, but they think the new museum is “simply great”.
