Wiener Wohnen rejects campaign -related attacks on the Vienna community building: The municipal residential construction is still an internationally admired success model, on the update of which is being worked on for future generation. A large-scale renovation and new building offensive also ensures affordable living space with high quality of living in the municipal building for the future: over one billion euros will be invested with the “Community Construction (T)” program in new construction and renovation of municipal buildings. The renovation cycle will be gradually reduced and should only be 40 years on average from 2030. Necessary repairs and repair work naturally take place on an ongoing basis.
90 municipal building renovations across Vienna with 12,300 apartments and an investment volume of 960 million euros are currently in the construction phase. 67 large renovations of residential buildings with 8,600 municipal apartments and investments of 470 million euros have been completed since 2020. More than 21,000 community planning residents already benefit from these massive improvements in the relegable rents.
The new construction work is also remarkable: 13 new municipal buildings with a total of 1,600 modern and affordable apartments have been completed in recent years. This new building performance is a multiple of the municipal residential work of all other federal states in the comparison period. In addition, 28 municipal buildings are newly under construction or planning.
Current survey proves high housing satisfaction in the municipal building
Viennese who live in the municipal building appreciate the massive efforts for a high quality of living in Vienna’s municipal building. In a recent survey on behalf of Wiener Wohnen, a large majority certifies a high level of living satisfaction: 80 percent of the municipal building tenants surveyed stated that they were very or rather satisfied with their personal living situation. 77 percent say it is very likely or more likely that they would again choose a community building again in the future.
“Even if some do not want to admit it, the residential satisfaction in the community building is very high. The fact is that the community building is more than just a symbol of cohesion and solidarity. Here people live – with cheap rents, a sustainable living environment and a high social conscience of property management. This is no reason for Viennese. to guarantee next generations. (Ending)
