Independent charity Vantage Foundation announces its partnership with Backpack 4 VIC Kids (B4VK), a Victoria-based charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children. As part of its mission to build strong communities, the Vantage Foundation worked with a local Australian company to deliver a successful fundraising campaign that was enthusiastically supported by employees.
The urgency of B4VK’s task cannot be overstated. In 2022, more than 61,000 Australian children required care outside of their parents’ home, including over 14,000 in Victoria alone. Alarmingly, 1 in 33 Australian children are dependent on child protection services, an increase of 17% on the previous year, with a significant increase of 24% for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. These figures make it clear that B4VK urgently needs further support and resources to fulfill its mission.
Founded in 2014, B4VK provides children in need between birth and seventeen with crisis and gift packages that provide comfort and restore dignity in times of crisis. Sally Beard, founder of B4VK, shared a poignant story that reflects the impact of her work: “Early on, I spoke to a woman who vividly remembered clutching her B4VK backpack tightly as she was escorted out of her house fetched. She confessed: “For me, this backpack was all I had. This story strengthens our commitment to providing displaced children with essential support and material assistance so that they feel safe and valued in difficult times.”
