With Peter Kostelka, Austria loses an outstanding politician in the recent history of Austria and social democracy one of its most important representatives who have decisively shaped the republic for many decades. His political path had many stations: member of the Federal Council, MP to the National Council, State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery, club chairman of the SPÖ parliamentary club, public prosecutor and most recently President of the Pensioners’ Association. Kucher: “No matter when, no matter where, no matter what function, Peter Kostelka always put principles like justice and solidarity at the center of his actions and was estimated for his ability to search for and find constructive solutions across party borders.”
