The body of a young, noticeably thin woman is discovered on the banks of the Danube, drowned and recently filmed by young people in a confused state. It is 24-year-old Valerie Pagl (Melanie and Sophie Weilguny), a parcel delivery person from Graz, who was reported missing three weeks ago because she suddenly disappeared without a trace while on duty. Her boss Kurt Kofler (Tom Kreß) has no idea what could have happened to her. Valerie’s social media presence shows that she was obsessed with the slimming craze, but the state of her body suggests that she was held down for three weeks – by whoever. And then the next messenger from Kofler’s company, Johanna Blaschek (Laura Bilgeri), disappears. At her last assignment she was overwhelmed with a cloth soaked in chloroform. The fake order leads to student Leo Schwarzkopf (Felix Stichmann), who admits his thefts but denies both kidnappings, which confirms his alibi. A withdrawn report of a sexual assault at the courier company’s Vienna headquarters leads “Soko” to Tanja Höger (Magdalena Wabitsch), and thus to Kurt Kofler, her harasser. Nevertheless, there is no further evidence that he is the wanted kidnapper. According to Beck’s (Maria Happel) findings, he wanted to starve his victims. So who could be behind these cruel acts?
“Soko Donau” is a production by Satel Film in collaboration with ORF and ZDF, made with the support of Fernsehenfonds Austria, Filmfonds Wien, the state of Lower Austria as well as Cinestyria Filmcommission and Fonds and Film Commission Graz.
