A complete success for students, teachers and organizers
Mayrhofen (OTS) – From May 28th – 29th, 2024, the Zillertal dairy hosted a very special event in Mayrhofen. “The slightly different school lesson” took place in collaboration with the “Land Creates Life” association. On the occasion of World Milk Day on June 1, 2024 and the company’s 70th anniversary, the event offered students, teachers and the school community a fascinating opportunity to experience the world of hay milk and sustainable agriculture up close.
The event started with a Personal tour of the show dairy, where the students and teachers were given an insight into the journey from cow to dairy product. They learned how the fresh milk from the happy cows is transformed into delicious hay milk products and how sustainable production contributes to healthy nutrition.
“Children are our future and, especially in current times, the correct formation of knowledge is even more important. For us, it’s a clear case of strengthening the importance of regionality and quality awareness at school age,” explains managing director Christian Kröll.
Im “Classroom in the stable” The students were taught in interactive workshops “label checkers” trained – directly between hay-dairy cows and goats. They learned how to make conscious consumption decisions by analyzing and interpreting key information on food packaging and in advertising messages. At the same time they took LehrerInnen am informativen Workshop „G.O.A.T. MEETING“ (Greatest of all time) part, which trained them to address the topic of conscious consumption in class.
After the educational program items, the school classes had the opportunity Schau-Bauernhof to explore independently and have a lot of fun with various activities such as hay jumping and a mini tractor course. Also the exclusive gaming cabin, which was provided by Lindner Traktoren, guaranteed the fun factor. In the specially converted Lintrac cabin Gamers big and small could test their skills Agriculture simulator show. The event ended with a Enjoyable snacks in the “Sennereiküche” restaurant“, where the participants were able to try the delicious hay milk products from the Zillertal dairy.
„The fact that the students have a great interest in food production and nutrition was clearly visible during the ‘slightly different school lesson’. Many committed educators also take these topics into the classroom – where they absolutely belong. Knowledge about food and nutrition should be taught in class just as naturally as reading, writing and arithmetic“, says Maria Fanninger, founder Land Creates Life.
Mayrhofens also visited Mayor Hans-Jörg Moigg, district chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture Andreas Prosch as well as Niklas Kramer from Zillertal Tourism the educational event and showed enthusiasm: “A big thank you to the Zillertal dairy for organizing this school event for World Milk Day on June 1st. I was able to personally see how valuable this educational event was for our school children. A repetition is definitely desirable.” says Mayor Hans-Jörg Moigg happily.
“The slightly different school lesson” was created by around 200 students and 22 teachers from 6 different schools found to be extremely informative, entertaining and inspiring. The combination of theoretical knowledge, practical experience and moments of enjoyment ensured an all-round successful day that not only conveyed the importance of sustainable agriculture, but also promoted the fun of learning and discovering.
The Zillertal dairy would like to thank all participants, the students and the teaching staff as well as the Zillertal dairy team and also Land creates life for this successful day and looks forward to further exciting events in the future.
