Austria’s health system is at a critical turning point. Alarming reports on overcrowded hospitals, overloaded staff, shortage of doctors and care bottlenecks are piling up. The Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna therefore invites you to a top -class panel discussion on May 19, 2025, which gets to the bottom of the causes of the crisis and discusses solutions.
The event is based on the publication of Prim. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Rudolf Likar, Dr. Ronny Tekal, Dr. Herbert Janig and Dr. Georg Pinter “In the sick country: This is how we save our health system” (Edition Platin, ISBN 978-3-903538-01-6). At the center of the discussion are the pressing questions of our time: does the health system still revolve around the patients – or have long been only about budget calculations? Has medical undersupply become a new reality? Why do highly qualified doctors hike abroad, while domestic hospitals are increasingly understaffed? And suffocate bureaucracy and political power games every sensible reform in the germ?
