ORF documentary looks back on the group’s history at 10 p.m
Vienna (OTS) – Their hits thrilled people for decades – after more than 28 years at the top of local entertainment music, SEER will say goodbye at the end of 2024. On this occasion, the 60-minute documentary “The SEER – Conclusion” – to be seen on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10 p.m. on ORF 2 – shows a unique and nostalgic as well as melancholic and personal look back at the history of one of the most successful local bands.
The SEER stand for a lot of what defines the Salzkammergut and Austria, and for home in the best sense of the word. Starting from Ausseerland, their musical mix of folk music elements, Austropop, rock and reggae conquered the charts and people’s hearts. Their songs have become good friends for people who rely on the SEER hits as emotional companions on important occasions in life, from cradle to grave. People have their say in whose lives the band’s music and the lyrics of the songs have a special meaning.
The documentary looks at the head SEER, songwriter and founder of the band, Fred Jaklitsch, his band members such as the SEER voices Sassy Holzinger and Astrid Wirtenberger, companions and colleagues such as Wolfgang Ambros, Florian Ritt from Folkshilfe, the entrepreneur and lover of the SEER Songs Franz Harnoncourt-Unverzagt and many others reflect on their experiences. The film also contains the last TV interview of the recently deceased writer and avowed SEER listener Alfred Komarek. The interviews, some of which are very personal, provide deep and touching insights. Concert organizers talk about the long-standing, highly successful collaboration and friendship with the band, the management and family business Viertbauer Promotion about the difficult and tough times of the first few years until success picked up speed step by step.
The film was shot at original locations – in Ausseerland and the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut – and of course you can hear SEER’s big hits as the soundtrack. The film is a worthy farewell for Austria’s most successful dialect band.
