The three non -governmental organizations (NGOs) receive a total of USD 1 million to develop scalable, sustainable solutions for promoting climate protection measures across America.
In the second year, the number of applications increased by more than 70 %. After several rounds of evaluation and a strict examination, Hcltech decided to grant OSA Conservation $ 500,000 and Daily Acts and Ocean Wise each. Registrations this year rose by 34 % from the ten participant countries of America, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru and the USA.
The organization based in Costa Rica Osa Conservation will concentrate your funding on “Climate Lifeboat Corridors”, which support types to migrate and thrive as part of climate change. Due to the re -connection of fragmented tropical habitats, the project supports adaptation to climate change and at the same time protects ecosystems on an area of several million hectares.
The company based in California Daily Acts will use the funding for his initiative supported by the community to strengthen climate silence. The project combines state strategies with basic initiatives to improve water management, flood protection and social infrastructure in the districts of Petaluma, California, and beyond.
The company based in Canada Ocean Wise will use the funding for his project to restore Kelp forests on the Pacific coast. By combating the overpopulation of seacuffs and the combination of advanced technology and ecological research, the project aims to strengthen biodiversity and support coastal communities.
