Andreas Gabalier and Thomas Morgenstern are challenging for the highest live challenge in the world: With a clip published today, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the duo is looking for prominent opponents from Germany to appear in the unique and still mysterious TV show At the heights of the duel between Austria and Germany – who will accept the extraordinary challenge?
18 cameras, two gigantic cranes, state-of-the-art technology for a live broadcast in two countries, speed drones and a helicopter as well as eight semi-trailers that provide a superlative platform – these are the cornerstones of the new adventure with Andreas Gabalier and Thomas Morgenstern: The Unique TV show on a stage more than 60 meters above Lake Wörthersee will go down in history as “The Really Best Show in the World” and the world’s highest live show. The 90-minute spectacle can be seen on Saturday, September 28, 2024, on ORF 1 and on ORF ON.
Who will be the opponents from Germany who take on the aerial challenge?
With a good deal of courage, Gabalier and Morgenstern invite you to an adventurous duel between Germany and Austria on the highest platform ever used as a live TV stage in Velden am Wörthersee. What is still missing are the top-class opponents. Since today, these have been actively searched for via social networks using an elaborately filmed teaser video. The only condition: It has to be a prominent duo from Germany. “After all, it’s literally about air sovereignty between Austria and Germany,” say Andreas Gabalier and Thomas Morgenstern with a wink.
“People’s Rock’n’Roller” Andreas Gabalier: “Velden is my second home, I’ve always wanted to see it from above. And if we can win this challenge, I might even sing a song from this stage over 60 meters high!”
Thomas Morgenstern, three-time Olympic champion: “For contractual reasons, we can’t say anything more about the challenge at the moment, but I already know one thing: Anyone who dares to compete against us shouldn’t be afraid of heights!”
Gabalier and Morgenstern are looking for a thrill
Andreas Gabalier and Thomas Morgenstern have already mastered the successful world record attempt “Mission Arctic Circle” together, in which the two of them were blown across the bare ice at record speed by 14 leaf blowers on ice skates. Not only did they become friends, they also developed a taste for it. “We want to try out crazy things and bring a lightness into the world that is currently missing far too often,” says “Volks-Rock’n’Roller” Andreas Gabalier. And three-time Olympic champion Thomas Morgenstern adds with a laugh: “On the one hand, we have incredible fun together and, on the other hand, we have so many crazy ideas that they have to come out somehow – otherwise one of us will explode!”
The production company Unscripted Productions is responsible for the idea and implementation.
