“The Professor and the Wolf” about the EU elections

Starts on May 13th at 9 p.m. on FM4 and via podcast, on May 15th on ORF 1

Vienna (OTS) A new European Parliament will be elected on June 9th. The ORF is presenting a comprehensive focus in advance (details available at presse.ORF.at). But how does the EU Parliament actually work? What is it responsible for? Why can’t it pass laws on its own? How is it different from the parliament in Vienna? How do you work in 24 different languages? And why do more than 700 MPs, their staff and several trucks full of documents have to move every few weeks, even though (almost) everyone thinks it’s unnecessary?

Political scientist Peter Filzmaier and “ZIB 2” anchor Armin Wolf answer all of this and more in the latest episode of their popular FM4/ZIB-2 podcast “The Professor and the Wolf” on the EU election. From Monday, May 13th, the broadcast will be available on FM4 and online from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and afterwards as a podcast. On Wednesday, May 15th, the EU episode of “The Professor and the Wolf” can be seen at 11:05 p.m. on ORF 1 – and then watch it via ORF-TVthek and on ORF ON.

Since 2022, ZIB 2 and FM4 have been presenting the podcast and video format “The Professor and the Wolf”. Armin Wolf and Peter Filzmaier take enough time to talk fundamentally about politics and how it works in Austria. Far from the daily headlines, they explain the basis of what our coexistence in Austria is based on. What is the biggest misunderstanding about the Austrian Federal President? Who actually makes the laws in Austrian politics? What is the House? The eight episodes so far can be accessed on sound.ORF.at.

There are two more episodes of “The Professor and the Wolf” on the program in the super election year of 2024: the Austrian National Council election and the American presidential election.
