The inaugural International MICE Summit (IMS24) transformed the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry with 19 key announcements on an action-packed opening day and brought new leading exhibitions to Saudi Arabia.
- Three of the world’s leading Professional Exhibition Organizations (PEOs) have announced the opening of offices and branches in Saudi Arabia, with 12 new events launching in 2025
- These announcements were the focus of the opening day of the International MICE Summit, bringing together 1,000 leaders from more than 70 countries to shape the future of the industry.
Global events companies including RX Global, Messe München and Clarion announced the opening of new offices in Saudi Arabia to support the Kingdom’s significant events growth plans in the coming decade.
Twelve new major events have been announced to include events such as Money20/20 (Informa/Tahaluf), FIBO (RX Global), World Refining Technology Congress, Advanced Therapies Week, Fire Department and Emergency Services Conference (Clarion), FSB Sports Show and International Hardware Show (Koelnmesse/DMG), HOST (Fiera Milano), ArabLab (Terrapin), Saudi Muscle Show (Italian Exhibition Group) and World Industrial Materials and World Advanced Packaging, Printing & Plastics (KAOUN) to Saudi Arabia.
“The first day of the International MICE Summit was a tremendous success: three of the world’s top ten professional event organizers opened offices in Saudi Arabia, 12 new events were launched and numerous agreements were signed to drive the industry’s progress and increase Saudi status. “To strengthen Arabia’s position as the most exciting MICE hub in the world,” said His Excellency Fahd Al Rasheed, Chairman of the summit’s host, the Saudi Conventions and Exhibitions General Authority (SCEGA).
“Furthermore, these announcements underline the importance of the events and exhibitions industry as a catalyst for change, connecting people to opportunities in line with the goals of Vision 2030. IMS24 promotes investment opportunities and new partnerships in all sectors of the economy,” added HE Al Rasheed.
In addition to the opening of offices and events, four memoranda of understanding were signed with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Saudi Tourism Authority, the Events Investment Fund and the National Events Center.
Speakers on the first day included Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb, former prime ministers and ministers from the United Kingdom, Italy, Bulgaria and Greece, leaders of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and the International Congress and Convention Association, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council as well as executives from Informa, RX Global, Messe München, Clarion Events and Messe Desseldorf as well as Richard Attias & Associates.
IMS24 continues on Monday with a focus on driving investment in the MICE sector, creating venues of the future and addressing global sustainability issues in the MICE industry. IMS24 attracted over 1,000 MICE industry executives from more than 70 countries to Riyadh.
