Vienna (OTS) Poisonous fast food meets Viennese snotty boys! The penultimate “Welcome Austria” broadcast before the summer break promises entertaining talks on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 10 p.m. on ORF 1 – and from 8 p.m. on on.ORF.at and in the TVthek app:
Marco Wanda comes to the Marx Palast to talk about the new Wanda album and the TikToker Toxische Fries personally delivers a reading copy of her novel “A Beautiful Foreigner’s Child” to Stermann and Grissemann. There’s also the comedic election campaign update on Dave and his new Original Gangsterz Making Money party before Maschek takes the floor. Wanda provides the final number with “Awake Kiss”. At 11:05 p.m. the “Pratersterne” light up THE NIGHT: Hosea Ratschiller welcomes Michi Buchinger, Maria Muhar, David Stockenreitner and Yasmo & die Klangkantine feat. on the stand-up stage of the Vienna Fluc. Mira Lu Kovacs welcome. At 11.35 p.m. a dacapo from “Reiseckers Reisen” takes you to the Lavanttal.

“Welcome Austria” with Stermann & Grissemann at 10 p.m

The Viennese cult band Wanda has released five award-winning albums and shaped the attitude to life of a generation with hits like “Bologna”, “Bussi Baby” and “Columbo” that have been clicked millions of times. Marco Wanda, Manuel Poppe and Reinhold Weber prove their cult status once again with the new album “Ende nie”, the first release for the three of them after the death of keyboardist Christian Hummer. “Ende nie” is the debut of a new band and an ode to life, as frontman Marco Wanda emphasizes in an interview with Stermann and Grissemann.

The cabaret artist, social media satirist and author “Toxische Fries” inspires millions of TikTok users with her comedy short clips, which are primarily dedicated to the “ugly side of life”. In addition to her work as a lawyer, the Viennese woman with a migrant background parodies Austrian stereotypes in her videos and addresses socio-political issues such as racism, sexism and classism. In the novel “A Beautiful Foreigner’s Child” she tells her own migration story. The talk with the “Welcome Austria” hosts is about TikTok and ORF, the Balkans and Austria, old white men and young queer comedy.

“Pratersterne” at 11 p.m

“There has to be a little bit of hate,” says Michi Buchinger, deliberately and yet charmingly spraying a sample of hate from his second stage program. Author and cabaret artist Maria Muhar presents the specialties of her acclaimed first program to the audience. David Stockenreitner presents the most beautiful curls of the cabaret scene and doesn’t hold back with other hard facts about himself. With Yasmo & the Klangkantine feat. Mira Lu Kovacs, two women with powerful voices, sounds and words as well as their excellent musicians are on stage and ensure the crowning finale. Host Hosea Ratschiller connects the individual performances in his usual sharp and pointed manner.
