At HUAWEI CONNECT 2024 PARIS, Huawei successfully hosted a data storage summit themed “New OceanStor, Best Data Infrastructure in the AI Era.” The summit was attended by industry leaders, experts and scientists from around the world to discuss the data infrastructure required for AI . Participants also addressed a range of current industry topics such as all-flash storage and all-flash data centers that will accelerate digital and intelligent transformation in Europe.
Redefining data storage in the era of data growth
Dr. Peter Zhou, President of Huawei Data Storage Product Line, said during the summit that the coming digital and intelligent era will be a “golden age” for data, and that data storage plays a crucial role in preserving and transmitting human culture and the Knowledge will play. Michael Qiu, President of Huawei Global Data Storage Marketing & Solution Sales Dept, introduced Huawei’s new generation of OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage. He said that the new generation all-flash data center solution must be built using a full range of high-performance and high-reliability data storage products. “Huawei is committed to addressing five critical service scenarios: mission-critical applications, mission-critical applications, AI, data analytics and data protection. Benoît Fix, CTO of the France Data Center Solution Sales Dept at Huawei, noted that the new generation of OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage, which offers extreme performance, extreme resiliency and AI-enabled innovative services, is designed for increasingly converged workloads is. It delivers better performance thanks to deep hardware-software collaboration and comes with an updated FLASHLINK® intelligent algorithm that improves performance by 50%. Additionally, the DPU-based SmartNIC is used to eliminate all CPU and memory bottlenecks in the system. The new generation of SmartMatrix full-mesh architecture achieves 99.99999% reliability for a single device. The solution also features the industry’s only native unified storage architecture for block, file and object storage, supporting diverse application types such as databases, files and containers, bringing business-critical applications into the AI era.
Dr. Thomas Eifert, CTO of the IT center of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen, also reported on how a merger of universities in North Rhine-Westphalia and Huawei have set up a cross-university data service system to increase the efficiency, control and use of data management improve. He said that the system not only provides a reliable and scalable data infrastructure, but also combines research data and HPC.
Anton Gohlke, a senior solution manager at Huawei, said that scale-out storage needs to move to all-flash as the amount of unstructured data grows and becomes more important.
