The modular 20 MWh C&I solution from Sigenergy defines the next generation of energy storage

Sigenergy brought together almost 300 global energy experts in Burgas to explore the future of commercial and industrialists (C&I) energy storage. An important highlight of the event was to visit a pioneering 20 mWH project in Malko Tarnovo, which is operated by Sigenergy’s Modularem C&I battery storage system (BES). The project illustrates the scalability and the practical effects of the next generation storage technology.

In collaboration with Trakia MT LTD, a leading Bulgarian solar company, the system was installed on a solar park and consists of 90 SIENGY C&I Hybrid interrichers in combination with the modular memory solution Sigenstack.

Tony Xu, founder and CEO of Sigenergy, commented: “Sigenergy has set itself the task of accelerating the global transition to clean energy with innovative and scalable storage solutions. This project is an example of how advanced battery systems can promote corporate growth and decarbonization in different industries.”

Modularity changes the C&I energy storage

Sigenstack introduces a really modular approach for energy storage in building technology-bulky container systems are replaced by stackable 12 kWh battery packages. Thanks to the plug-and-play connections and the toolless installation, the system makes complex cabling, cranes and heavy machines superfluous.

Thanks to this concept, the entire 20 mWH system could be installed in just 10 days and put into operation in full within 2 days. Galina Peycheva -Miteva, owner of Trakia MT Ltd., noted: “The installation went incredibly smoothly – more like the assembly of building blocks than building an industrial infrastructure. This modular design is a decisive progress for the sector of energy storage for C&I.”

Safety technology at the package level

The C&I BESS solutions from Sigenergy set new standards for system security. The heart of this innovation is the Sigenstack system, which is designed for safety at all levels. Each 12KWH battery package is provided with six protective layers: temperature sensors, internal fire extinguishing systems, aerogel insulation, decompression valves, high-temperature-resistant insulating pillows and smoke detectors. This configuration enables an early detection of a thermal run on the packing level and introduces a quick, localized reaction within seconds.

In contrast, there is usually a lack of conventional cabinet -like systems in a division into departments, and it can take more than a minute to react, which increases the risk of fire spread. By insulation of incidents at the module level, Sigenstack significantly increases system reliability and operational safety.

The advanced inverter platform has ultra-fast return protection of 500 ms and an AFCI technology (ARC Fault Circuit Interruptter) with a wide range, which can recognize errors up to 500 meters.

In order to continue validating his security deposit, Sigenergy has published a C&I Safety White Paper in cooperation with the global test service provider Intertek. The results confirm the complete agreement with UL 9540A and IEC 62619, the structural stability in extreme tests and continued operating efficiency of over 95%.

Resistance made for zero maintenance

The C&I Bess from Sigenergy is based on a robust security and module concept and supports the autonomous 24/7 operation. With the IP66 classification for dust and waterproofness, it offers reliable performance under different environmental conditions. However, conventional cabinet systems often contain more susceptible components and require monthly inspections, semi -annual exchange of parts and comprehensive annual maintenance.

Real-time monitoring via a cloud-based platform offers a comprehensive insight into the system status, the energy throughput and the alarms, which significantly reduces the need for on-site inspections. Maintenance is also rationalized: defective batteries can be replaced individually within two hours without the need for a complete system diagnosis or a technician on site. This reduces downtime, simplifies spare parts logistics and minimizes the operating costs.

The successful implementation of this project is proof of the outstanding achievements of Sigenergy in the areas of installation speed, security, operational safety and intelligent management. With regard to the future, Sigenergy is determined to expand his global presence and to promote safe, efficient and sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
