The Maschseefest 2025 has opened. Mayor Belit Onay: Hanover is ready!

Hannover (OTS) –

The 38th Maschseefest was officially opened this Wednesday in Hanover. From July 30th to August 17th, the banks of the Maschsee will be transformed into a pulsating festival mile for 19 days. Germany’s largest sea festival inspires with culinary diversity from all over the world, more than 200 live acts on several stages as well as a varied program for children and families.

Classics such as the popular duck race or atmospheric torch swimming are again part of the program as well as exciting innovations. A highlight this year is the approximately 75-meter-high Maschsee Tower, which for the first time provides breathtaking views on the forecourt of the Heinz von Heiden Arena.

Solemn start at the sun-cloud mix

With the best atmosphere and a summer-fresh 20 degrees, the Maschseefest was symbolically opened at 6:00 p.m. Surrounded by colorful stilts, acrobats and live musicians, Hanover’s Mayor Belit Onay and AndrĂ© Lawiszus, Managing Director of Hannover Veranstungs GmbH (HVG), ceremoniously the blue opening band – accompanied by numerous guests.

“The Maschsee is located in the heart of the city, and the Hanoverians have taken it to heart – this also applies to the Maschseefest. It has long been part of the cultural DNA Hanover like the shooting festival. With its unique atmosphere, the largest sea festival attracts people from near and far. We look forward to a big, diverse, peaceful and colorful festival. Hannover is ready,” says Onay.

André Lawiszus, who has been responsible for the Maschsee Festival since 2011 and is responsible for the first time this year as the managing director of the HVG, is pleased about the successful start:

“There is a lot to discover on all four banks – from new gastronomy to very special locations, such as the newly designed west bank with Aperitivo Bay.”

The Maschseefest has long been more than a regional open-air festival-it has developed into a real cultural event with international radiance as a food festival. With its maritime flair in the middle of the city, it feels the summer vacation in Lower Saxony by two and a half weeks.

Around two million visitors are also expected this year at Hanover’s largest summer festival.
