The lawyer scores with reliability!

With the traditional New Year’s reception, the Vienna Bar Association started the new year in the auditorium of the Academy of Sciences. President Hon.Prof. Dr. In his New Year’s speech, Michael Rohregger emphasized that the rule of law must not be questioned even in politically and economically uncertain times, the Vienna lawyer stands for democracy and the rule of law.

230 invited guests followed the call of the Vienna Referees’ Chamber and exchanged intensively at the “Get Together” of the right state as part of the New Year’s reception on tasks in front of us in the area of ​​justice and democracy. In Vienna, early elections are in the house at the end of April and Austria is waiting for the new federal government. In politically and economically difficult times, the Viennese lawyers are on the part of the rule of law, and we can rely on! Rohregger: “Proof of our good work is that lawyers are repeatedly mentioned as possible candidates for ministerial offices.”

Lawyers are transferred to the protection of the interests of their clients. In order for this task to be fully performed by third parties, the lawyer will continue to be granted independence in the future. This applies, for example, the legal professional secret and the autonomy under the right. In a current judgment, the ECJ expressly emphasized the core values ​​of legal independence, the duty of loyalty to the client.

The rule of law & independence

Over 3,700 Viennese lawyers as well as around 1,400 lawyers candidates fulfill this job conscientiously. In 2024, the replacement of defense costs was successful. In addition, it was successfully initiated that the duration of the procedure is shortened and the handling of electronic databases as well as stress for accused are improved.

For the legal population, the RAK is also involved in the new year 2025 with a variety of volunteer lectures and activities as well as the still free first legal information. On May 15, Austria commits the 70th anniversary of the signing of the state contract. Reliability, the rule of law and independence: basic values ​​that RAK Vienna has been committed since its existence began! A big goal at the official level remains: the professional representative should be increased younger and the proportion of women should be further increased.
