The 21st Africa days of Vienna flood the Danube Island again with joie de vivre: Under the motto “Making New Stars”, the festival celebrates new music talents and large voices. With live concerts, shows, a world bazaar and children’s program. In the new Business Lounge, a wide variety of economic bridges between Austria and African countries build. Day tickets for 10 euros (Tue – so), free admission on Mondays.
Great voices and live acts
For the first time, country and themed days determine the program of the established cultural festival: from Lesotho to South Africa, Afro-Austria days on Mondays and Afro-Jazz or Afro-Klassik days on Sundays. In the evening, traditional melodies, Afrobeate sounds, reggae, soul, blues, jazz and classical music sound. Special highlights: the live concerts by Nomfusi and Marla Glen or the newcomer Gaïa Elsey.
Opening program on August 8, 2025
On Friday, August 8, 2025, the festival site and the Business Lounge will open from 2:00 p.m. The official opening with drum rhythms on the main stage begins at 7:45 p.m. Nthakoana ngatane. Morena Leraba sets the artistic conclusion.
Neue Business Lounge als Deal Room
In this VIP area, delegations, producing and creative people meet companies from Austria and Europe. All -day meals, seats at concerts and thematic showcases create space for discussions. The format is supplemented by pitch slots for companies and curated networking sessions. Talks with messages as well as commercial and tourism agencies link culture with business. The “Young Africans in Agriculture” initiative is also presented.
Festival site with colorful world bazaar
From amapiano dance to yoga to drum workshops-participation is expressly desired and free. Children love the stories of Patrick Addai and the pony and camel riding. The larger ones find handicrafts, fashion, jewelry and a range of products produced in Africa at the approximately 60 exhibitors – larger than ever. Around 20 food stalls provide culinary delights. In addition to the main stage, the children’s tents, the Sahara tent with her Sahara Late Nights, the Kilimanjaro bar, the Cairo Square and the tea tent “Cairo Corner”, the 99-year-old painter Meshu for the first time has its own kind of art center with shows and workshops. Daily dance groups and drum shows complete the program of the open air festival designed as an eco-event-70,000 visitors are expected this year.
