The Carinthian elementary teachers are being let down by the state government, emphasizes Roland Ressmann, parliamentary group leader of the Alternative Independent Trade Unionists in Carinthia.
The promised reduction in group sizes to a maximum of 20 children has been postponed until 2027. Ressmann warns that elementary educators are already reaching their physical and psychological limits due to the enormous challenges of everyday working life.
Many of you cannot imagine continuing to work until you retire, others are leaving your career early. There are already massive problems filling vacancies, as a look at Ferlach shows, where an elementary teacher has been looking for a year. Ressmann hopes that the emotional speech by a Carinthian elementary school teacher at this year’s child protection conference of the state of Carinthia will hopefully bring momentum to the debate.
Problems that cannot be overcome in kindergarten often extend throughout the entire education system. It is high time for the Carinthian state government to take responsibility, because our children are the future of our country, emphasizes the Independent Trade Union / UG Carinthia AK-Rat, Mag. Dr. Ressmann.
