“My life / in the sunshine / everyone love sunshine / sunshine / everyone loves sunshine / sunshine.” With these verses (in the original in English) a popular song from 1976 begins. So it is now almost 50 years old. The soul radio jazz vibraphonist Roy Ayers with his band Ubiquity wrote and recorded it. The first lines, he said, came up with a “wonderful hot, sunny day” in New York. The song has become a kind of evergreen and his chorus was probably sampled 100 times by R&B and HipHop artists.

It is a hymn to the DolceFarnient and the idle course in nice weather. At the time, in the golden seventies, when the hippies were scheduled to end the era of the sting clock, and when the word “shortening of working hours” was not yet a threat, but a promise, it was considered “the bliss that the bliss can be found in the leisure”. Was it all Ginsberg or Aristotle who said that? Doesn’t matter. First pour in a glass of wine or turn a bag. Anyone who lived into the day with the maxim that the pleasure is the only thing you should live for was considered a wise at the time and not as an economic pest, as today.

“Simply bees and things and flowers / just bees and things and flowers,” Roy Ayers – in addition to his apology of the sunshine – sings in the song mentioned at the beginning and with these words the pleasantly feeling spiritual vacuum, of which you can become partially if you lie in midsummer in a meadow or in a park and do nothing but to look out and look into the blue sky. It is a feeling that many long for: switching off, resting, no more work and other constraints, no longer having to see on the clock, no longer have to work permanently, forget the horrific long -term politics, have the sun, watch the bees (as long as there are still any), inhale the flower fragrance.

Roy Ayers died last week at the age of 84. And with him probably also the permissive era he represented.

Even if the first sun rays of spring pass the remains of German winter, not only the sunny years should be over for the time being, but also the time of leisure and extension: If it should go upwards, the economy- that is, translated: If the upcoming wage reduction and discharge wave should not hit it, but rather your colleagues, and if your boss’s profits should also increase. Well, what does “have to” mean. Let’s say it like this: You will do it very committed if the conditions are made that we will not have to wait too long if Friedrich Merz will soon get his spring feelings.

The good weather period will soon be over. “Deeply relaxed” is just another word for “unproductive”. And the word “break” – an invention of the communists to sabotage our economy – can be repaid out of the Duden as a precaution. In any case, the refrigerator alone does not become full of flower and bees observation, and even with the most devoted love for the sunshine, the rent has not yet been paid if you understand what I mean. The day has 24 hours, and at least 16 of them are unfortunately irrelevant with superfluous hustle and bustle such as chat messages sending, drinking beer, bumming and sleep. That doesn’t have to be. Each half -second of this dead time could instead be used in favor of the German economy. In order for this to be clear: nobody is fortune to be idle in our free society and to drain their time, everyone has the right to be productive and to give their sausage -free non -existence. The outdated left -wing extremist forced imagination that a working day should not have more than eight hours will soon be a thing of the world of yesterday.

“The Sweetspot for productivity is 60 hours,” said Sergey Brin, co-founder of the popular US company Google, recently to the public. Employees should work “at least 60 hours” weekly. If you don’t know: The Tech company Google is something similar to the company Cyberdyne Systems from the »Terminator« film series, only existing in our presence. And she still has a lot to work through if we want to arrive in good time in the future.

I am not sure whether in this future instead of Roy Ayers’ dusty and completely felled to the lazy songs, no other songs should give the social marching direction. For example, the piece “Just because I freeze” from the golden lemons: “Just because I freeze, it is still not winter / just because I freeze, is still not winter / I get panic when I think that I have a whole day before me again until I can sleep again.”

In any case, it is certain: “Work-life balance” will no longer be needed in the future. There is not so much left of the life soon.
