But reading – as I said: originally an employment that was not unusual at universities – is an ability that is almost extinct among students today. Admittedly, it is a complex process that includes both the recognition of characters (“letters”, “punctuation marks”) and the understanding of their meaning. It requires a minimum of concentration that is not easy to raise from people who have never learned old cultural techniques such as the “open” of “books” and the “re -leafing” of “pages”.
I notice that someone does not read, my thesis. I recently overheard something that took place among three students during an afternoon on the lake shore and that resembled a conversation.
