The goal must continue to be a stable federal government with social democratic participation

In difficult times it is important to take responsibility. The Chairman of the SPÖ Vienna Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig advocates social democratic participation in government: „Taking responsibility also means making compromises and, above all, reaching out to each other. We in Vienna stand for this policy of responsibility. We don’t just point out problems, we work on concrete solutions that make people’s lives better – from education, active labor market policy, healthcare to affordable housing, climate protection and strengthening the economy. This is exactly what the SPÖ negotiating team under federal party chairman Andreas Babler has been advocating in various groups for the last 45 days,” emphasizes Ludwig.

In the interests of our country and all Viennese, it is now important to form a viable federal government with the participation of social democracy as soon as possible. Because you don’t want to wake up in a blue-black, gloomy future. „The FPÖ is not a right-wing populist party, but a right-wing extremist party! Therefore, there cannot be a viable future and government for our country with this party. Our parties differ diametrically – on the European question, in relation to science and, above all, on questions of the image of humanity and human rights! I hope that all other constructive, political forces in this country also recognize this and do not become the stirrup holders of a Federal Chancellor Kickl who wants to shake the roots of our democratic basic order,” adds SPÖ state party secretary Novak.

A new federal government is now needed quickly to strengthen the health system, ensure affordable housing and expand climate protection. The future federal government must also urgently devote itself to strengthening the business location and fight for every job! “In this sense, especially in these difficult times, we must stick together as the democratic forces of the republic and do everything we can to ensure that a viable federal government is established in a timely manner. In any case, the Social Democrats are aware of their responsibility – hopefully the People’s Party too!”, concluded Ludwig and Novak.
