Whether by bus, on foot, by scooter or by public transport- children from all over Austria collect climate-friendly kindergarten and school routes, so-called “climate parts” in the climate allocation of the Austria. Before the summer holidays, an interim balance was drawn from the previously collected climate parts of the first half of the participating educational institutions.
The Gerersdorf elementary school from Burgenland emerged as a climate-horned Summer winner in 2025. The 29 pupils: Inside, impressive 400 climate parts collected within a week and covered their ways in a climate -friendly manner.
Award by Federal Minister Peter Hanke
As a reward for their collectiblers, the students were personally awarded a certificate and a trophy as part of an award event in Vienna as part of an award event in Vienna by Federal Minister Peter Hanke and climate alliance Managing Director Elke Kastner. “The children are making a clear sign of a sustainable future. Their commitment shows that the mobility turnaround does not begin at some point, but here and now – and every single step counts!” Says Peter Hanke, Federal Minister for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure.
In addition, the students received an invitation to the Schönbrunn Tiergarten. The arrival and departure of the summer winners was made available by Österreichische Postbus AG. The students: inside brought a poem. “We are a small elementary school in southern Burgenland. It is therefore very important to us to give the children to the fact that we are concerned with each individual from us to protect our environment, nature and the climate,” emphasizes director Krisztina Stimpfl.
A goal that the elementary school has certainly achieved this year. Elke Kastner, Managing Director of the AUSTRIA, was also enthusiastic: “The Gerersdorf elementary school proves that even a small school can move great. The children have impressively showed that joint action works and climate protection can already have a permanent place in the recent.”
Actively mobile with the climate hint campaign
The climate mile campaign has been taking place every year since 2003 and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility, Infrastructure (BMIMI). A “climate mile” corresponds to a kindergarten or school route covered. If a path was mastered free of car, a climate part can be glued to the collective pass or the joint group poster in the form of a sticker. Climate alliance Austria offers free materials for kindergartens and schools as well as leisure facilities up to the 7th school level. In autumn it will be continued diligently.
