Minister of Education Christoph Return, the President of the Industrial Association Georg Knill, the Vice Rector of the Wien Norbert Kraker University of Education, the managing director of the knowledge factory Austria Veronika Säckl and head of section Doris Wagner from the Ministry of Education yesterday awarded the “MINT Gütesliche 2025-2028” to 130 committed “MINT children’s gardens” and “MINT schools” from all over Austria. The project sponsors were pleased with an all -time high in initial enclosures, which impressively demonstrates the dynamic development of the initiative.
Federal Minister Return congratulated the educational institutions present on the occasion of their first award with the MINT seal of approval. With a broad-based MINT offer, the educators not only promote the curiosity and creativity of children and adolescents, but also prepare them for the active design of our future. The kindergarten and primary level play a crucial role when it comes to creating the same educational opportunities: “With their broad-based MINT offer, they create an environment of astonishing, research and exploring, which decisively shapes the educational trip of our recent,” said the minister. He emphasized how important the playful access to technical and scientific topics is already in kindergarten. “By encouraging children from an early age to ask questions, to express assumptions and to look for answers curious, not only develop knowledge, but also important skills such as critical thinking and problem solving skills.”
The President of the Industrial Association, Georg Knill, personally thanked the Minister of Education for the continuation of the joint initiative and emphasized: “MINT is becoming more and more important in the focus of our society. And at the same time, the personnel problems in the MINT area are persistent, even in the dramatic situation in which the industry is currently located. In the next few years, almost 60,000 new MINT jobs will be created in key technologies in Austria. The seal of approval not only stands for a one-time award, but is an expression of long-term commitment-the excellent educational institutions develop according to an individually created MINT development plan and can apply for the seal of approval again after 3 years. Over the years, a lively MINT quality network has emerged, which is visible on the Austria MINT map. “The increasing proportion of kindergartens is particularly gratifying, even if there is still a lot of potential here,” says Säckl.
Numerous high-ranking guests from education, science and business attended the ceremonial handover of the MINT wall badges and certificates to the excellent educational institutions. The prominent ORF presenter Christa Kummer-Hofbauer impressively described what meaning MINT has played in her personal and professional career so far, and inspired the audience as well as Somya Rathee, who as a young MINT testimonial return with Education Minister and President Knill on the subject of “Future Shame MINT?” led. The well-known cabaret artist Günther Paal aka “Gunkl”, recently also a MINT Boscher of the “MINT region Favorites”, maintained the audience with a “Best of”, while Julia Winkler and Andreas Bergthaler interacted the social media initiative “Fäkt” of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The MINT seal of approval is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education, the Industrial Association, the Knowledge Factory Austria and the University of Education in Vienna. It represents a nationwide award for innovative learning in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT) with a variety of approaches for girls and guys. The awarding of the MINT approval seal is part of the comprehensive national efforts to advance MINT formation in all educational levels and to set the course for equality and innovation. Excellent educational institutions receive the MINT seal of approval as a digital logo for your website and as a wall badge for your building. The excellent schools and kindergartens are publicly effective on the “MINT map of Austria” www.mintschule.at located. The seal of approval is awarded for a period of three years, a re -submission is possible after a phase of quality development. For the first time, award-winning educational institutions are honored at the MINT gala in the House of Industry in Vienna. RetRified educational directions are awarded at the regional level, in cooperation between educational directorates and IV national groups. The tenth tender for the MINT seal of approval will start in November 2025.
