“In a time characterized by profound technological and environmental change, the MICE industry has emerged as an important catalyst for change. IMS24 focuses on the future of the industry and addresses the needs of a globalized world. It is changing the way people, cultures and countries connect to create prosperity,” said IMS host and SCEGA Chairman His Excellency Fahd Al-Rasheed.
“Saudi Arabia is the perfect environment for IMS24. As an internal and external agent of change, the Kingdom has made its own transformation, shaping the future of the global tourism industry and becoming the fastest growing MICE destination among G20 countries,” His Excellency added.
MICE events in Saudi Arabia saw a nearly 15% increase in 2023, with nearly 17,000 events attracting over 20 million visitors. IMS24 coincides with the Kingdom’s ongoing transformation as Saudi Arabia emerges as a major global tourism and events destination. With nearly 110 million visitors in 2023, tourism accounts for 6% of Saudi Arabia’s GDP, equivalent to SAR 255 billion (US$68 billion). The Saudi MICE sector is expected to accelerate its growth through the rapid expansion of transport and events infrastructure. This will be supported by the development of Giga projects that offer unparalleled travel experiences, as well as improved connectivity between the Kingdom and the rest of the world. SCEGA continues to drive these transformative developments, most recently with the announcement of a SAR 588 million (US$156 million) incentive program to support major events in 2025.
