The goal of the book “National Socialism in Austria. In easy language” is, according to the historian Gunnar Mertz: “The participation in the memory. Many barriers had to be overcome in the Austrian culture of remembrance. Austria confessed late to its responsibility. Now another barrier is being overcome.” Almost every third person has difficulty reading the meaningful. “But the broad audience also benefits from easy language, especially with complex content,” says the translator for easy language Lina Maisel.
The book project was designed inclusive. People with disabilities got involved in all phases and checked the text for intelligibility. A specialist advisory board from renowned experts also advised on the content level. The book was funded by the Federal Chancellery, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the National and Future Fund.
