The federal government gives the green light to the law amending the military law

Decided today in the Council of Ministers

Vienna (OTS) This amendment is intended to create the legal basis for a “training check” for soldiers in the militia in order to further strengthen the militia system. People who take part in militia exercises receive compensation of up to 100 euros per day of training. This remuneration can be used for civilian professional training and further education purposes and is intended to serve as an incentive to become more involved in the militia. It should also encourage business to provide more support to the militia.

“The militia’s thanks to our Federal Minister cannot be big enough! “This is great and, on the one hand, it eliminates various social injustices for militia members and, on the other hand, the newly introduced militia training allowance creates a unique incentive for militia members and employers to get involved in the militia,” said the militia commissioner of the Federal Army, Major General Erwin Hameseder.

The new measures also include the introduction of hardship compensation under social law in order to eliminate social insurance disadvantages in childcare allowance and the family time bonus for people in military service and training.

In addition, this amendment creates the basis for a medal of bravery in the Federal Army to honor soldiers who have shown exceptional bravery and commitment to action at the risk of their own physical integrity during a mission for military national defense, in a security police assistance mission or in a foreign mission.
