The day after the election: Start of the new information series “ORF III AKTUELL in the afternoon”

Tomorrow, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, Austrians will elect a new National Council. As part of the comprehensive ORF election reporting on all channels (details at presse.ORF.at), ORF III is making a significant contribution to information and is now supplementing its news offering with an additional broadcast area. From Monday, September 30th, the day after the National Council election, “ORF III AKTUELL in the afternoon” at 4:00 p.m. (also on ORF ON) will reinforce the previously existing weekday live news “ORF III AKTUELL” in the morning (9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m p.m.) and “ORF III AKTUELL in the evening” (7:20 p.m.). In the new information series, the station initially reports and analyzes the latest political and social events and developments twice a week – regularly on Mondays and Wednesdays – for one hour each. On the occasion of the National Council election, “ORF III AKTUELL in the afternoon” will be broadcast in its first week on Monday and Tuesday (September 30th and October 1st). This means that on the two days after the election alone, ORF III will be dealing with the outcome and further developments live for around nine hours.

ORF III editor-in-chief Lou Lorenz-Dittlbacher: “In such an exciting time, we want to dedicate ourselves even more to the classic public service task of explaining and extend our almost four-hour live information on ORF III into the afternoon about the formation of the federal government to accompany you in in-depth analyses. In 22 additional hours of programming until the end of the year, we will analyze, discuss and keep the audience informed about the path to the new government. In addition to discussions on factual issues, we will show how a government is formed, what tasks the Federal President has and what hurdles have been overcome in past coalition formations.”
