LH Mikl-Leitner/LH-Deputy Pernkopf: “Big thank you to the volunteer fire department and all supporters”
St. Pölten (OTS) – Heavy hail storms hit the three cadastral communities of Waldkirchen an der Thaya, Gilgenberg and Rappolz in the Waidhofen ad Thaya district this Sunday evening. Hailstones up to seven centimeters in size caused severe damage in communities, including to roofs.
“The most important thing is that no people were injured in these severe storms,” said State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who assured the affected communities in the Waidhofen ad Thaya district of immediate help from the state of Lower Austria from the disaster fund. “We will quickly start with the damage commissions in order to provide those affected with help as quickly as possible.” The state government will already deal with relief measures for the affected communities on Tuesday, said the state governor.
Mikl-Leitner and Pernkopf emphasized: “An evening like this shows once again what makes Lower Austria so strong, namely our togetherness!” Above all, they thanked the comrades of the volunteer fire departments, “who were immediately deployed and once again have proven that they are there when they are needed, when the need is great.” Over 100 fire department members from the entire Waidhofen an der Thaya district were ready to temporarily seal the roofs with tarpaulins. “Thank you also to the many companies and private individuals who provided tarpaulins and materials for emergency relief at short notice,” said the state governor and her deputy.
