The Chamber of Physicians in Vienna shows solidarity with the Chamber of Dentists
Vienna (OTS) –

“We as the Chamber of Physicians in Vienna are in complete solidarity with the dentists,” says Johannes Steinhart, President of the Chamber of Physicians in Vienna, in reference to the currently failed negotiations between the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and the Dental Association about a free replacement for amalgam fillings, which will be banned from 2025.***

The IHS study presented yesterday shows that dentists face the same challenges as all medical professionals, said Naghme Kamaleyan-Schmied, Vice President of the Chamber of Physicians in Vienna and Chairwoman of the Curia for Resident Doctors. “We are facing the same problems in the health insurance system.” Many services are in deficit or have to be cross-financed. “We can understand 100 percent that the Dental Association is sticking to its position here,” said the Vice President.

The chairwoman of the Curia finds it more than worrying that Andreas Huss, as the highest union representative and current chairman of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund, wants to offer dentists individual contracts. “With this offer, Huss is trying to divide the solidarity of service providers in order to enforce cheaper tariffs. An absolutely questionable approach for a trade unionist. As the Chamber of Physicians in Vienna, we offer the Chamber of Dentists a collaboration in order to work together to make the health insurance system attractive for all doctors and patients, so that doctors continue to choose it and the best care for everyone in the health insurance system possible for patients. However, individual contracts are by no means the right means of achieving this,” concludes the Vice President.
