“The Canu des Manitu” paddles past James Bond, Barbie and Minecraft

• Around 80,000 cinema fans on the start weekend to “The Canu des Manitu” in the Cineplexx cinemas

Abahachi and Ranger stumbles head over head into a new adventure and in first place on the Austrian cinema charts! With “The Canoe of the Manitu”, Bully Herbig creates a brilliant sequel 24 years after the legendary “Schuh des Manitu”: Around 80,000 people accompanied the duo on the extended weekend in the Cineplexx cinemas on their trip – and at 35 degrees in the shade.

The film start of “The Canu des Manitu” marks the most successful start weekend since 2019 with “Avengers: Endgame” and set a record in this decade; In the period on Friday to Sunday alone, around 140,000 tickets were sold across Austria.

The “Canoe des Manitu” thus paddles even on large box office strikers such as “James Bond: no time to die” (2021) with around 107,000 cinema guests, “Barbenheimer” (Barbie and Oppenheimer, 2023) with a total of 132,000 visitors: Inside at the end of the start or the long-awaited Minecraft film with around 134,000 tickets sold.

As the first German-speaking film, which also impresses in premium format IMAX with an extraordinary sound and top image quality, “The Canoe of the Manitu” has been the most successful start of a German-language film for years. Most recently, “Fack Ju Göthe 3” in 2017 delighted comparatively many visitors: inside (146,000) on the first weekend in the game.

Summer time is blockbuster time
“July and August are traditionally strong cinema sounds in Austria, as large blockbusters start worldwide at this time-and ‘The canoe of the Manitu’ is the perfect film if you want cool leisure program and good mood at high summer temperatures.
