The agricultural and forestry companies demand: Europe with a sense of nature!

‘It is now a matter of critically reviewing the overly bureaucratic framework; it must be contemporary, effective and implementable. They must encourage innovation instead of inhibiting it. And they have to overcome the challenges not only of yesterday and today, but above all of tomorrow. So what is needed is a policy with common sense and, ideally, with natural sense! This is the only way we can achieve our goal of preserving Austria’s forests and fields as a guarantee of security of supply for food and renewable raw materials!” says Konrad Mylius, President of Land & Forest Companies.

Vienna (OTS) Europe stands for unity, solidarity and progress. On May 9th we celebrate Europe Day, an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and advantages of the European Union. With the call for a “Europe with a sense of nature”, the Land & Forest Companies Austria would like to emphasize the importance of a practical EU policy.

The European Union has not only contributed to ensuring peace and stability on our continent, but has also laid the foundation for the sustainable and responsible use of our natural resources. Through common standards, programs and investments, the EU supports agriculture and forestry in developing and implementing ecologically, economically and socially sustainable practices.

The advantages of the EU for agriculture and forestry are manifold. Thanks to the common internal market, Austrian agricultural and forestry companies have access to a larger sales market for their products. Trade barriers were reduced and exports and the competitiveness of European agricultural and forest products were strengthened. In addition, the European Union promotes innovation and research in this area to address the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity and environmental degradation. Precisely in order to maintain these advantages in the long term, regulations and laws are also needed at the European level that enable active land management.

Due to excessive regulations, such as the EU Deforestation Regulation, dissatisfaction with the European Union has grown significantly in agriculture and forestry. “It is now a matter of critically reviewing the overly bureaucratic framework; it must be contemporary, effective and implementable. They must encourage innovation instead of inhibiting it. And they have to overcome the challenges not only of yesterday and today, but above all of tomorrow. So what is needed is a policy with common sense and, ideally, with natural sense! This is the only way we can achieve our goal of preserving Austria’s forests and fields as a guarantee of security of supply for food and renewable raw materials!” said Konrad Mylius, President of Land & Forest Companies.

For the European Parliament elections, we appeal to everyone to use their right to vote and vote. The elections are an important opportunity to actively shape the future of our continent. With our voice, we help ensure that the EU continues to stand for peace, prosperity and sustainability. Because only together can we overcome the challenges of our time!

The Land & Forest Companies Austria is the voluntary association of Austrian land managers with the aim of maintaining Austria’s forests and fields as a business basis and added social value and to create awareness of the concerns of private agricultural and forestry businesses and their activities. The member companies of Land & Forest Companies Austria together manage more than a quarter of the Austrian forest and produce one in five tons of Austrian grain.
