The 500-year-old Brauhotel Weitra celebrates its reopening

LH Mikl-Leitner: Modern tourism business that has retained its originality and focuses on regionality and quality

St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) The ceremonial reopening of the Brauhotel Weitra was celebrated yesterday, Saturday, by numerous citizens of Weitra and the surrounding communities, representatives of business, emergency and security organizations and politics, including State Governor Johanne Mikl-Leitner. “Today we are opening a 500-year-old jewel that shines in new splendor inside and out and has not lost its original and rustic quality,” she said. Special thanks went to the new owners Faraz Nourani and his wife Helga Hollensteiner, “you can tell that it is a project close to their hearts, which they bought, renovated and reopened with love and courage.” They transformed it into “a modern tourism business that relies on tradition, regionality and quality,” said the state governor, who emphasized: “Thank you for making it your mission to invest in Weitra and thus fulfilling a great wish for the people who live here and also for our guests .”

The Brauhotel Weitra is a traditional business and “Weitra and beer are a 700-year love story and are closely linked.” The oldest brewing town in Austria is “a must for beer lovers”, with the newly designed adventure world in the castle, the beer mile through the old town or even the beer fair, which will take place next week. But Weitra, and indeed the entire Waldviertel, also has a lot to offer apart from beer. “The Waldviertel is one of the most beautiful regions in the world,” she said, and spoke of an “incredibly beautiful natural landscape with its high moors, wobbly stones and heathland.” It is also a destination for hikers and cyclists, “when I go mountain biking on the granite trail , cycling on the Iron Curtain Trail or hiking in the Gabrielental.” In addition, the Waldviertel offers the entire cultural spectrum, said the state governor, “from the chamber music festival Allegro Vivo to the theater summer locations, where this year ‘The three from the gas station’ is taking place Weitra Castle is waiting for the guests.” Weitra and the entire Waldviertel have developed into a popular holiday destination, explained Mikl-Leitner, and this can also be proven in the numbers: With more than four percent of overnight stays, the Waldviertel is the tourist region with the most this year highest growth rate. “When our guests come to the Waldviertel, they expect a region that they can discover in its authenticity and that is what they get throughout the Waldviertel and especially here in Weitra in the reopened brewery hotel,” the state governor was convinced.

“As mayor of Weitra, I am pleased that this most prominent hotel and restaurant business in Weitra was taken over, renovated and reopened within a year,” said Patrick Layr. As the oldest brewing town in Austria, we are proud “of our art of brewing and our beer and we are pleased that we can now enjoy this tradition again at the Brauhotel Weitra.”

Wolfgang Lalouschek also spoke, who gave a laudation for the new owner of the Brauhotel Weitra, Faraz Nourani. He described him as a very successful but humble man who “works for his visions and dreams with his own hands, brain, heart and handshake quality.”

The ceremonial reopening was accompanied musically by the Weitra town band, and Pastor Markus Freytag blessed the brewery hotel. This was followed by a traditional tapping of a barrel of “Weitra Bräu”.
