The 15th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF), co-hosted by the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), was held in Macao on June 20, 2024.
The IIICF is recognized as a leading global event for infrastructure cooperation and serves as a key international platform for improving infrastructure connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative. This year, more than 3,500 industry leaders from more than 70 countries took part, representing 800 organizations.
Under the motto “Green Innovative Digital Connectivity“Over 200 speakers came together to explore this emerging industry and engage in stimulating dialogue on emerging topics such as energy transition, digital development, green investments, ESG management, digital integration of international technical projects, dispute resolution, risk mitigation and regional infrastructure connectivity. The discussions aim to bring China’s expertise and innovative solutions to international infrastructure cooperation, catalyze new growth in infrastructure partnerships between China and the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and build consensus and insights for the sustainable development of the global infrastructure industry support financially.
The exhibition space was increased by 60% compared to the previous year, with more than 90% of the stands designed according to the exhibitors’ wishes. The exhibition offers four main attractions:
- Emphasis on low-carbon environmental protection: With green technology at the forefront, the exhibition showcases the latest advances in clean energy, green building practices, energy efficient material innovations, wastewater treatment techniques and successful smart city implementations;
- Leadership in innovation and technology: The focus is on the exhibition of construction robots, intelligent measurement and monitoring devices, intelligent planning systems, autonomous driving technologies, intelligent construction methods, novel technical materials and prefabricated building solutions;
- Digital integration and intelligent empowerment: A comprehensive exhibition on digital infrastructure solutions and the application of big data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) in international engineering projects. The latest digital transformation practices for project management and urban development are also presented.
- Connectivity and shared success: Highlighting landmark projects that demonstrate global infrastructure connectivity and China’s participation in joint construction projects in countries and regions affected by the Belt and Road Initiative. These include ports, highways, bridges, railways, airports and urban development projects, demonstrating the strength of the “China Construction” brand.
This year’s accompanying exhibition at the Forum has received a significant upgrade and builds on the resounding success of last year’s edition. The event boasts an unparalleled robust lineup of exhibitors and organizations, including industry-leading engineering companies such as China Communications Construction, China State Construction Engineering Group and China Railway Construction, among others. These companies are known for their strong technological capabilities and ability to integrate resources. Alongside them are leading communications and device manufacturers such as Huawei, Caterpillar and LiuGong, who are at the forefront of digital intelligence and green innovation technologies. In addition, delegations of local companies organized by economic authorities from several provinces will be on display, further increasing the diversity and depth of the exhibition.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the highly successful International Forum on Infrastructure Investment and Construction. Over the past decade and a half, the Forum has attracted over 30,000 participants from around the world, including more than 570 at ministerial level or above. The event triggered the development of more than 180 international infrastructure projects with a total contract value of more than US$100 billion. She has played a central role in promoting pragmatic cooperation in infrastructure investment and construction between Chinese engineering firms and partner countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
