Waldviertelpur made me want to visit the Waldviertel for three days
Vienna (OTS) – Numerous visitors were treated to pure Waldviertel delights and products, impressive musical performances and traditional crafts in the middle of Vienna and were able to find out about the extensive excursions, holidays and health offerings in the region.
The event started its 19th edition on June 19th with the traditional Zwettler beer tapping. The Lower Austrian region was a guest in the federal capital for three days in summer temperatures and a great festive atmosphere. A strong appearance from a strong region, in the middle of Vienna.
Around 90 exhibitors offered everything that makes the Waldviertel so special and lovable. Juicy roast pork with the finest Waldviertel potato dumplings, delicious organic carp dishes and of course countless poppy seed specialties ended up on the plates. Bakers offered fresh, fragrant pastries and fluffy pastries. Beer from Zwettl, Weitra and Schrems was tapped, wine from the Kamptal and Retzerland was served and finally a toast with hard liquor.
„On the three days of the festival, the people of the Waldviertel conveyed pure joy of vacation and life. And in doing so they hit a nerve. The beautiful landscape, the cycling routes, the culinary delicacies and the warm hosts of the Waldviertel are inspiring more and more guests. The number of overnight stays rose last year by almost 5 percent to 1.3 million. We are looking forward to many visitors to the Waldviertel,” says State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who also officially opened the festival.
The motto of the show program was: pure joy of life. Music and formations from a wide variety of styles, from the brass music from Kirchschlag-Scheib to the Schönbacher Schuhplattler, from folk to guard music to rock sounds, as well as musicians who enjoyed mingling with the guests. And the fashion show by traditional costume lady Elfi Maisetschläger was, as always, a fixture of the event, which took place amidst the magnificent backdrop of Vienna’s Heldenplatz.
“The administration of Heldenplatz is a major challenge for the Austrian Castle Authority, as the square enjoys particular public attention in the Republic and also has a high tourist and cultural value. In order to meet the requirements of Heldenplatz, it is important to maintain this high quality. This is achieved with events like waldviertelpur. Here, one of the most culturally and touristically valuable regions in Austria presents itself from its best side,” says castle captain Reinhold Sahl happily.
The Waldviertel craft businesses also offered special experiences, where not only were there artistic objects to purchase, but guests could also look over their shoulders as they worked. Of course Waldviertel offeredpur There is also plenty of opportunity to find out in detail about the region’s unique holiday and excursion offerings as well as the diverse health offerings, which offer everything you need for a perfect stay – such as special nature experiences that are wonderful places to relax and unwind Offer to slow down. Above all, the festival scored points with a lot of Waldviertler warmth, which the exhibitors brought with them and expressed in a unique setting.
