AFFORDABLE HOUSING & A LIFE OF DIGNITY:
Amnesty International, the Poverty Conference and the Visible Become platform are demanding action from the parliamentary parties and inviting media representatives to attend
PRESS CONVERSATION
as part of the “Tents against poverty and housing shortage” action day
Friday, September 6, 2024, 10 a.m., Karlsplatz / Resslpark
Poverty is present in Austria. Poverty is a human rights violation. Poverty leads to homelessness and stands in the way of a life of dignity.
However, poverty and homelessness are not an individual fate or the individual failure of individuals. The state has an obligation to combat poverty and enable every person in Austria to live in dignity.
In the run-up to the National Council elections, Amnesty International, the poverty conference and Visible Werden, the platform of people with experience of poverty, are presenting concrete approaches on how poverty and homelessness can be combated in Austria and are demanding solutions from the future government parties.
Interlocutors:
- Martin Schenk, social expert & co-founder of the Poverty Conference
- Sandra Yildiz, Platform Become Visible, Backstreet Guides
- Shoura Zehetner-Hashemi, Managing Director of Amnesty International Austria
